“Rodrigo was abandoned on the streets by his parents. He was rescued by a woman who was walking by and heard him crying. He was afraid and hungry. She took him to the police station and they took him to the temporary DIF home. His parents have not looked for him nor have they responded to the messages left on the radio and television stations. It seems like they don’t regret the decision of leaving little Rodrigo on the streets. He was at the temporary home for a very short time when they called us asking if we had room for him. They know he will have a stable and safe home here and he will have the opportunity to develop in a healthy environment. Right now he is afraid of everything that surrounds him as a result of his abandonment. He doesn’t really know how to socialize with the other children and gets very frustrated. He loves his new home, but he still has a lot of trauma and insecurities that cause him conflicts in school. He also mentions that he has two older brothers, but doesn’t know where they are. He doesn’t appear to have any relatives and, therefore, the DIF is not able to place him with other family members. He feels like he doesn’t have anybody, scared and alone. He has much to learn as a child, but we pray soon he will understand what The City has to offer him and what a beautiful, loving family he now has…” (Reprinted from the Spring, 2012 City of Children publication)

We are part of Rodrigo’s family now, too. Please pray for him as he faces the many adjustments and new experiences, and pray for him to come to know the peace and love of God..

“Revelation.” It was amazing. I hope you didn’t miss the opportunity to see it last Sunday evening. Thank you to everyone who helped in preparing for, and hosting, this professional event. To Tal Campbell, for bringing this event to our attention and to our building. To Jim Parks, for coordinating the refreshments, and to all of you who brought goodies for the refreshment table. To Rodney McGee, for coordinating the ushers, and to the teens for agreeing to be ushers. To Cindy Barris who was our greeter/hostess. To Sid and Donna Shaddox, who sold tickets at the door. To those of you who answered phones, and especially to those who purchased tickets! Seriously, we couldn’t have done it without you! I know there are many others who helped, whom I haven’t named – thank you, too! – Deiga
